New Church in New Haven, Connecticut Dedicated | For My House Shall Be Called a House of Prayer for All Peoples

A new church location for New Haven Immanuel Church was dedicated in the state of Connecticut at end of January. Overlapping the city lines of Hamden and New Haven, the new home of the local congregation hopes to bring a revival in a city that encompasses Yale University and a significant number of young adults in the neighborhood.

The dedication sermon by the preacher was based on Isaiah 56: “And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant-7 these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” 8 The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, “I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered.” (Isaiah 56:6-8)

“Today we gathered here to dedicate ‘Immanuel Chapel, Connecticut.’ God answered our prayers. We also hoped for these churches to be near Yale University.”

“Since we have many young leaders in our church, we need something solemn, dignified, and decent. I felt the holiness as soon as I entered this chapel. But there is one thing that’s required in this place: vitality. And since we have many young people, we have vitality. Today when I was inside the priest’s room next to the chapel, I heard you singing hymns. All of a sudden, my heart was moved, and tears burst forth. I could feel that this was the amazing work of God. How thankful we are that we can sing our hymns here!”

“The name of this church is ‘Immanuel,’ and this name is a very important name. Jesus is called by many names, and ‘Immanuel’ is one of them. [Isaiah 9:6] For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There are many names such as these. For example, there is ‘Jesus, the Lamb of God.’ The most important name among these many names is ‘Immanuel.’ [Matthew 1:23] “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel.” Immanuel means: ‘God is with us.'”

The 2 buildings, totaling 29,000 SF, consists of a chapel that sits over 200 people and a large kitchen and cafeteria below that have acted as a local community center, and a three-story multi room school with 24 dorm rooms equipped. This beautiful sanctuary is located just 5 minutes away from the renowned Yale University campus. Yale is the third oldest institution of higher education in US.
