Towards Easter 2018, OA Churches Meditate the Path of Lord's Cross
Olivet Assembly churches in North America began the Lent period by offering services on February 14th, 2018. During this period, all churches and members deeply reflect on the cross of Jesus for 40 days and finally on the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter.
Each day during the Lent period, ministers are reflecting on a different passage from the book of John following the progress of Jesus Christ from the Last Supper to the crucifixion and the resurrection. During this time, ministers will lead their churches to continually reflect and remember the deep heart of love that Jesus expressed and how they can understand God's love more deeply.
The Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) Every man stands in speechless and profound awe before the Cross that the Son of God carried to save them.
Love of God was fully and perfectly demonstrated by the Son's faithful obediance towards the Cross which paved a new way for fallen mankind to access God's presence. Love and life are related as the former produces the latter. Jesus' love was flawless and eternal to bear life of eternity for men. Perfect and unconditional was the love of the Lord on the climactic suffering of the Cross. Those who accept this love of Jesus partakes in life born through eternal love.
The Cross was the victory of love and redemption for man. And those born of this love with new life anticipate greater apperance of resurrection, with the hope that Paul the Apostle had, "We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence." (2 Corinthians 4:14)
Many churches are leading Bible study groups on campus and in conjunction with youth fellowships to promote these Bible studies and Lent events. It is hopeful that many will be brought to join in during this Holy time of the year and devote themselves to studying God's word together.
The profound mysteries of the death and life is deeply discussed during this season, illuminating the core theme of the Gospel vividly to many. May everyone experience a revival through the truth in the Lenten period until Easter 2018.
